Case Studies

Client names are not published here, and will not be on request either. In this work, confidentiality is the product as much as the outcome is — a client who engaged us to reduce their visibility is not served by appearing in our marketing.

What follows is anonymised by sector and scale. On a call we can discuss comparable work in more detail, and where a client has agreed, put you in touch with a reference directly.

National development group — real estate and construction

3.2 ★ to 4.7 ★

The situation. Delayed possession on two projects generated a sustained wave of one-star reviews across agent platforms and property portals. A proportion were genuine buyers with real grievances. A proportion were not customers at all.

What we did. Separated the two groups first, which is the step that decides these cases. Genuine complaints were routed back to the client for resolution rather than disputed. Non-customer reviews were documented as a pattern — account creation dates, review timing, overlapping histories — and filed as a single evidenced case rather than individual reports. Listing inconsistencies across platforms were corrected in parallel.

Outcome. Rating recovery to 4.7 across the major agent platforms. The genuine complaints that were resolved did more for the average than the removals did.

Regional clinic group — healthcare, nine locations

2.9 ★ to 4.5 ★

The situation. A coordinated review wave hit nine locations simultaneously. The clinic’s own responses had begun to create a second problem: replies that referenced patient specifics.

What we did. Built a privacy-safe response protocol first — replies that acknowledge feedback without confirming anyone was a patient, which is a confidentiality requirement rather than a stylistic choice. Then documented the coordination pattern across all nine locations and filed it as one case.

Outcome. Rating recovery to 4.5, and a response process the clinic’s own staff could follow without creating further exposure. See our guide for doctors for how this constraint works.

Executive — financial services

4 of 10 negative page-one results to 0 of 10

The situation. Four negative results on page one for a senior executive’s name, ahead of a process where the search results would be examined closely.

What we did. Four different routes, because four different problems. Two articles were removed at source following documented correction requests to the publishers. One was delisted under data protection grounds. One was accurate, lawful reporting that could not be removed by anyone — so it was suppressed by building the professional record that should have been ranking in the first place.

Outcome. A clean page one. Note that only three of the four came down; the fourth still exists and always will. That distinction is the whole of this work.

Luxury hotel portfolio — hospitality

3.6 ★ to 4.8 ★

The situation. A two-year backlog of unanswered reviews across booking platforms, with ratings drifting apart property by property.

What we did. Comparatively little removal work. The problem was neglect rather than attack. We worked through the backlog with responses written for future readers rather than past guests, aligned the listings across platforms, and built review collection into the checkout process.

Outcome. 4.8 across the portfolio. This is the case we point to when someone asks whether they need removal: often they need a process instead.

Private individual — arrest record after dismissal

7 pages to 0 pages

The situation. A booking photograph and arrest record syndicated across seven aggregator sites. The case had been formally dismissed. The aggregators had not updated.

What we did. Obtained the dismissal documentation, then approached each aggregator with the primary record attached. Mugshot aggregators respond to documented dismissals far more often than people expect — the difficulty is volume and persistence, not grounds.

Outcome. All seven cleared. This category is consistently the highest-yield work available, and the one most people assume is impossible.

B2B software provider — enterprise SaaS

3.5 ★ to 4.7 ★

The situation. Review-site disputes combined with outdated comparison pages that buyers were being shown during evaluation — feature tables reflecting a product version two releases old.

What we did. Disputed the reviews that breached platform terms, and separately pursued corrections on the comparison pages with current documentation. The comparison-page corrections mattered more commercially than the reviews did.

Outcome. 4.7 across the major review platforms, and accurate comparison data in front of buyers.

What these cases have in common

  • The removable and the unremovable were separated first. In every case, some content could come down and some could not. Knowing which before starting is the difference between a result and a wasted retainer.
  • Genuine complaints were resolved, not disputed. Where a real customer had a real grievance, the fix was the underlying problem. No reputation strategy survives an unresolved issue that keeps generating new complaints.
  • Evidence did the work. Platforms act on documented policy breaches, not on how unfair a review feels.
  • The slowest component was suppression. Where content could not be removed, displacing it took months rather than weeks. It always does.

What we do not claim

None of these outcomes was guaranteed in advance, and we would not have promised them. Platform and publisher decisions are not ours to make.

Some engagements do not reach this kind of result. Where content is accurate, lawful and firmly ranked, the honest outcome is partial — and we say so at assessment rather than at the end.

Where a client has agreed to act as a reference, we will put you in touch directly. Ask on the first call. A firm that cannot produce a single contactable reference is one you should be cautious about, including us.
